Conscious Intentions For Improvement

As we transfer into a technological culture, we experience the need to quickly assimilate multiple sources of visual information, make sense of it all, and then create our own version that expresses our intent. As an Art Educator, who teaches kindergarten through fifth grade, I need to know that my young audience will face mental discipline challenges when using web-based resources. As their mentor, I need to adapt a new mind set when it comes to teaching the prior background knowledge of the elements of art (line, shape, texture, form, space, color and value). Students now need to manipulate these seven elements, mix them in with principles of design, and compose a piece of art digitally.

In order to provide solutions to the mental disciplines while using new technical tools from younger art students, I need to offer numerous solutions that will help not only elementary students, but also the families that will have to be the backbone of guiding their education from home.
